Your first steps with localsearch

  • 1. Basics

    To ensure a smooth migration and access to your emails, website and domains, two actions are required from you.

  • 2. Activate your account

    A few days before the final migration you will be asked to activate your user account at localsearch.

  • 3. Your login to website & hosting

    You can centrally manage your website, email and web hosting via my.localsearch-hosting.ch and have full control as an administrator.

  • 4. Check your emails

    Each user of an email account was asked to set a new password before the migration.


    You can register your emails via webmail.localsearch-hosting.ch by entering your email address and your chosen password.

  • 5. Edit your website

    You can access and edit the website builder via my.localsearch-hosting.ch using the navigation point "My website". Instructions and helpful tips are available under the "Help" point in the upper navigation area.

  • 6. Instructions and help

    At the beginning, there are many questions about using the new platform, the website and setting up your email account in local mail programs. We have provided instructions for the most popular devices and programs:

  • How do I get access to my.localsearch-hosting.ch?

    For my.localsearch-hosting.ch you use the same login data as for the localsearch customer center and local.ch. Your access data for localsearch will be sent to you in a separate email.

  • I have forgotten my password for local.ch - what should I do now?

    If you have forgotten your password for local.ch and therefore for my.localsearch-hosting.ch, please use the "Forgot password" function in the login window.

  • How can I check my emails?

    Open webmail.localsearch-hosting.ch and log in with your email address and password.

  • I have forgotten the password to my email account - what should I do?

    If you would like to reset the password for one of the managed email accounts, please proceed as follows:

  • How can I set up my local email program like Outlook, Thunderbird?

    To set up email forwarding to your individual email program on your laptop and mobile devices, some local settings need to be made.

  • How can I continue to use my services from the Swisscom homepage tool?

    Migrating an existing website and email address to a new platform can be a complex process that requires careful planning and execution. That's why localsearch has developed a process in cooperation with Swisscom to ensure a smooth move. This means you can sit back and continue using your services as usual and without interruption.

  • What conditions apply to localsearch?

    As a subsidiary of Swisscom, localsearch offers HomepageTool customers the same services as before at the same price. Due to the free migration, there is a minimum contract period of 12 months.

  • How do I move my website and hosting?

    After registering for the free migration, you will receive an email from Swisscom with a power of attorney request - with this you give Swisscom permission to give us your website, domain and email addresses. Based on your current product selection, your website and hosting services will be migrated to localsearch. The services will be at least equivalent to those of the Swisscom HomepageTool or better. The migration will take place by the end of May 2024, i.e. until the products are discontinued by Swisscom - details on the timing will be provided at a later date.

  • Which content will be transferred and can I edit it myself as before?

    Localsearch will transfer the existing website and – if available – other components, such as the online shop and email hosting, from the Swisscom homepage tool into the new technical environment and recreate the website based on a modern template. You can then edit and expand the website, its content and all other services yourself at any time.

  • Where can I find my main domain for the Swisscom homepage tool?

    You can find your domain in the login area of the Swisscom HomepageTool (e.g. my-company.ch or .com). You can also find your domain in the cancellation letter or cancellation email from Swisscom.

  • Unfortunately, my question is not answered in the FAQ. Who can I turn to?

    You can contact us on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on 0800 888 500 or at info.swisscom-offering@localsearch.ch.

  • What does the website look like after migration?

    Previous websites from the Swisscom homepage tool will be recreated in the new technical environment at localsearch in a similar and modern design layout. By selecting a similar design layout, it is ensured that the overall appearance is retained but is reflected in a modern design.

  • How does the migration of email mailboxes work and are archives also migrated?

    The email mailbox is migrated with all subdirectories that are currently on the server. If emails were downloaded locally via POP and no longer exist on the server, migration cannot be carried out.

  • When and how do customers receive access data for the new website & hosting platform?

    As soon as the migration of the website, hosting and domain services is complete, customers will receive their access data to a portal where they can access all product components and manage them themselves as usual.

  • What should I do if I have not received the power of attorney?
